Prof. Meals has presented his research across the state, nation, and internationally. Recent presentations include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) National Music Research Conference, the International Conference for Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC), the Midwest Clinic, the Texas Music Educators Association, and state conferences in Ohio, Illinois, Louisiana, and Georgia. His research interests include individual and ensemble instrumental pedagogy, music and human learning, ensemble conducting expressivity and performer perception, and sociocultural interaction within music ensembles. He is published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Music & Science, and Frontiers in Psychology.
